Follow along this week for fun day at a Fishing Derby at Lake Wilderness in beautiful Maple Valley, Washington! In this video, we dive into the excitement of the annual derby as anglers of all ages compete to reel in the biggest rainbow trout. 

Follow along this week for a road trip on Washington’s scenic Highway 2 as we visit two beautiful roadside waterfalls: Eagle Falls and Deception Falls. These natural spots offer a peaceful break with impressive cascades and lush surroundings. Along the way, we stop by the Espresso Chalet, a small coffee stand that served as a filming location for the movie Harry and the Hendersons.

Follow along this week for a solo hike through the heart of Washington’s rugged wilderness to Dirty Harry’s Balcony. It offers the kind of views that makes you stop, breathe, and appreciate the wild wonder of the Pacific Northwest. 

This journey takes us to Ebey's Landing, a breathtaking destination that showcases stunning coastal views and is part of Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve—a tribute to the island's pioneering settlers. Along the way, we explore the picturesque town of Coupeville, one of Washington's oldest towns, steeped in maritime heritage and famously featured in the movie Practical Magic. 

We explore the breathtaking Pacific Northwest coastline and cast our lines from the renowned Westport Jetty. Despite an unexpected fishing gear mishap, Fishing Buddy Gregg turns the day around by whipping up a mouthwatering 'Catch & Cook' meal. Plus, we take a special detour to Aberdeen, WA, to visit the Curt Cobain Memorial Park, honoring the legendary frontman of Nirvana in his hometown. 

This week we meet up with Fishing Buddy Gregg on a long-awaited Urban Fishing trip in Arizona. The weather on the first day was terrible and reminded us of winter in the Pacific Northwest! This unsuccessful trip was still a lot of fun and ended with a Spring Training Baseball game at Goodyear Park!  

A fun hike up Tom's Thumb Trail in Scottsdale, Arizona. This trail offers breathtaking views of the McDowell Mountains and Phoenix. Along the way, we encounter unique rock formations, and stunning mountain vistas. The trail is well-maintained and suitable for hikers of all skill levels. Whether you're looking for a leisurely stroll or a challenging workout, Tom's Thumb Trail has something for everyone. 

Experience the serene beauty of snow-covered trails, majestic mountain views, and the joy of adventuring with friends. From snowy landscapes to laughter-filled moments, this video captures the essence of a perfect winter and very wet getaway. 

This week we are on a camping and hiking adventure at Camano Island State Park to explore the lush forests and rugged shorelines. We're excited to participate in the 16th Annual Glass Quest, a unique 10-day treasure hunt organized by the Camano Island Chamber of Commerce and the nearby town of Stanwood. We hiked several trails on the hunt for the elusive Que Ball that can be redeemed for a beautiful handblown glass float. 

A winter hike through snowy trails to discover a waterfall cave. The icy landscape, with tall trees provides a stunning backdrop for this adventure. Inside the cave, I cook a quick breakfast for lunch using some sausage Chef Troy and I made that plan to show in a future video. Sit back and relax to the sounds of the waterfall and the spectacular views.

Follow along this week as we stop off on our way home from another razor clam dig at Ocean Shores, WA for a hike through the lush, verdant landscapes of the Quinault Rain Forest Nature Loop Trail in Olympic National Park. This trail offers a serene escape into nature, showcasing the lake and stunning old-growth forests, towering Sitka spruces, and Douglas firs. 

This week a group of friends and I hike to Lake 22 in Washington State's Cascade Mountains. Once we get to the top, the trail transforms into a stunning winter wonderland.  

We'll be exploring some of the town's hidden gems and local favorites. First, we'll grab a mouth-watering burger at Furgal's, known for its affordable and tasty burgers. Next, we'll head to Swain's General Store for some unique finds and a taste of local history. Then, we'll take a scenic walk along Ediz Hook, enjoying breathtaking views of the Olympic Mountains and the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Camping Matt year-end review of 2024, showcasing some of our incredible camping and hiking adventures. From breathtaking Pacific Northwest trails and starry skies in the North Cascade Mountains to fishing in the Puget Sound, it's been a year filled with wonder. Highlights include camping at the Hoh Rain Forest in Olympic National Park, where the Hall of Mosses trail and elk encounters were spectacular.
